Living, Learning and Loving

In God’s love, we seek to be an open Christian community where everyone of every age is welcomed and valued.

We aim to do this through living, learning and loving

Living

As people seeking faith, we are committed to exploring a living, loving relationship with God

Learning-

As people of reflection, we learn through asking questions, exploring doubts, through prayer, worship, bible study, and every-day life experience

Loving-

As people showing love, we actively care for our neighbours, Harnham and the wider world

Celebration- We celebrate life and the love of God, shown through his Son Jesus. We celebrate the joys of our communities.

 Hope- We hope in the transformation of ourselves and the world, through God’s love, that we can always start again, and that this life is not the end; we work to bring hope in the lives of those around us by committing ourselves to loving our neighbours and to stand with those who suffer injustice.

 Compassion- We have compassion from God through the reconciliation Jesus brings; we show compassion to our neighbours as we listen and walk with them through life.

 Brother, sister, let me serve you, let me be as Christ to you;

pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant too.

We are pilgrims on a journey, and companions on the road;
we are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load.

 I will hold the Christ-light for you in the night-time of your fear;

 I will hold my hand out to you, speak the peace you long to hear.

I will weep when you are weeping; when you laugh I’ll laugh with you;
I will share your joy and sorrow till we’ve seen this journey through.

When we sing to God in heaven we shall find such harmony,
born of all we’ve known together of Christ’s love and agony.

 Brother, sister, let me serve you, let me be as Christ to you;
pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant too.’

Our mission strap line is Living, Learning and Loving

Living is about having space in our lives to explore what it means to live life to the full, to recognise that there is more to life is more than just the physical world. As a church community we explore a living, loving relationship with God and what that means in our everyday lives. We want to celebrate life and be transformed by God’s love, living out this love practically in the way we think, speak and act.

Learning is having the freedom to share doubts and ask questions about life and God. Our church community provides a range of opportunities to learn. During Sunday worship a variety of sermon styles bring meaning to the Bible, reflected in the light of experience. Smaller groups meet in homes and even over a pint, to explore a life of faith lived in an exciting but challenging world

Loving is inclusive and values everyone.

Our church community is made up of a range of ages and walks of life: single, couples and families, ranging in age from babies to those in their eighties!

As a church community, we want to invest in the local community. We run many outward looking groups for children, young people and adults. A large number of other community groups use our hall facilities throughout the week.

Loving is about serving local people.

Members of the congregation serve, as school governors and school helpers, in local politics and in local charities such as the Salisbury Youth Venture. We also serve through Christian agencies such as the Trussell Trust, Street Pastors, the Mother’s Union and a number of homeless charities. We are also committed to community organisations such as community speed watch, the Harnham Neighbourhood association and other community groups.

The church….is the place where ..dreams are entertained ..boundaries are crossed, hurt is noticed, and the weak are honoured.  Brueggemann

Jesus did not come to earth so that we could have church more often, he came so we could have life more abundantly!

Christianity is nothing else but faith right in the middle of actual life and weekdays.  Kierkegaard.
